Another reason I think you may be a woman is that (no offense to female readers out there) a lot of women are emotion-based and therefore find reassuring, pleasant fictions to be preferable to ugly truths, and often will totally judge the value of a statement solely on how it makes them feel. What was written wasn't pleasant, but it's certainly rational. In some ways it's almost too rational. What it lacks is sentimentality and romance, but not rationality.
