Jesus became the ultimate victim on the cross, beaten until unrecognizable by His own mother. He died, was buried, and rose from the dead, Jesus ascended to heaven and now sets at the right hand of Father God almighty. Jesus could have called 10,000 or more angels to set Him free from the cross on calvary, yet He took our place. He became a victim so we can be victors, more than conguerors in Jesus.

Jesus takes away inner spiritual pain, Many wear masks in public today use money, sex, power, fame, corruption, drugs, alcohol to numb or temporarily relieve their depression, hurt, pain inside. You do not have to use these substances.

The Almighty authority of Christ Jesus, even to this day has the power to remove innermost stains, make you knew on the inside, and take away all hurt, pain and brokenness. I know, I am a new person on the inside, washed from stains of rape, mental and emotional physical abuse! Hallelujah! I use to be depressed, today I walk in fullness of joy!!! I live in gladness even behind closed doors, no more masks, inner hurt, guilt, shame nor pain.

When I share Jesus with you I am not talking about a church nor religion, corrupt hyprocrites in the church, pedofile pastors, priest, leaders and many who are religious but lost. Not all are evil, but some religious people can be controllers, cruel and hurt innocent people and children. These false leaders are wolves in sheep clothing.

I am talking about coming to know Jesus intimately and personally, to walk in the spirit as a bride, married to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus is a Man whom will never leave nor forsake nor abuse you. Jesus cares so much about you and is reaching out to you right now.

As an aside, this is why i like Obsidian thoughts when he was on roissy’s blog. also the reason why i have become sick of the commentators on roissy blog. I hate the constant non stop whining about women, minorities and liberals.

Acknowledging you’ve been a victim, whether publicly or privately, does not equate to perceiving your entire life and being as one of victim. There is a difference and it is not so subtle. You brag on being conservative; that you apparently cannot grasp the nuances shows.

I think that a factor behind “Scar Worship” that you haven’t mentioned is the catharsis of abdicating individual responsibility. It plays out on multiple social dynamics, but there is a certain joy some people obtain in over-sharing themselves, which is that their problems become shared problems.. everyone that they tell tacitly becomes their accomplice. Perhaps this is part of why women gossip so much.

Of course, I don’t think this supersedes their narcissistic desire to be the center of everyone’s attention. Rather, I think the two motivations form a confluence which results in people like Oprah and similar celebs.

They wish to be popular among society but have no meaningful qualities whatsoever. A handy solution is to air out their dirty laundry and have everyone try it on. This allows them to be in the public eye (for the novelty of their story) while simultaneously shifting the responsibility for their own problems to everyone else. I’m sure the nanny state deserves some of the credit for promoting this ideal.

Another reason I think might be behind the phenomenon is that they may subconsciously desire to lower themselves so as to equalize their celebrity status, for they don’t really believe the deserve it. I think this is very prevalent among humans though.. like nerds using self-deprecating humor to shunt social value from themselves after they’ve done something particularly interesting.

You nailed it again. A similar dynamic plays out in church. I am an atheist, but go with my family every 1-2 years, and this distance illuminates the emotional strip-mine of modern christianity. Almost every subject discussed in church is a tragedy, a pathetic bowl of suffering. Oh, the delicious anguish.

Once I listened to a drawn-out prayer request for a family whose child bounced off the back of their pick-up truck on the freeway and was killed. No one prayed for the parents to enlarge their insect-size brains and put their children in the cab. Just as you write about the supposed horrors of black family life, this story implied that tragedy is everywhere. It could happen to you any second. Your efforts to improve yourself are useless, against the confirmed universal shittiness of life. Don’t try to act intelligently, just sit in a circle and cry with us.

You are 100% correct: no strength or improvement can come of this, only weakness and depression.
