I checked out the Jezebel website. One of these characters refers to herself as 'Slut Machine'.
What do you think thats about? -

Why does that chic call herself a slut?
Is it supposed to show she doesn't care?
Is it supposed to show she can get guys when she wants?
Is it supposed to be self-depricating?
How does she expect a guy to react when she calls herself a slut?
How does she expect other women to react when she calls herself a slut?
How would you react if your wife-to-be kept talking about herself as a slut?
I wonder how she thinks you should take it.

It's interesting, I've often heard the argument - "If he does it he's a stud, if she does it shes a slut." I hear the argument often enough. I never hear people called sluts or studs as status markers by third parties based on their sexual activity. Actually, who uses the term slut except the *sluts* themselves. I NEVER hear it the other way.

Just want to confirm that:

These two girls are NOT representative of strong and true feminists. She just admitted something tragic happened to her and within seconds they're talking Ugg Boots... They are embarrassing to me as a woman, but I see the pain they're disguising by the flippancy, so I remain unoffended.

Tracie Egan does not want to be raped. No one wants to be raped. It is not pleasurable. I feel she may have now sent out and confirmed the message: Just kidding! No really does mean yes! When it doesn't. This girl is seeking pleasure--again, rape is not pleasure. She must be seeking S&M in a safe environment, not the fear of death and being TOTALLY out of control in a situation.

I consider myself to be a feminist, but still searching. I appreciate the distinction on this site between the desire for difference that is men: we do not want someone just like us (it is the difference that keeps men intriguing, and without this difference I might as well be a lesbian) and the fact that the differences do not mean one is BETTER than the other, or that one is more LIMITED than the other--this is the idea women are fighting against.

I appreciate the respect you show for women AND for yourself to not cross boundary lines when they are blurry at best. This post made me laugh several times. Again, very interesting, and I appreciate your prospective.

Wow - excellent post!!! 8O

<blockquote>
"When you lower your standards on a regular basis and only bang women you don’t respect, you think you’re getting over and proving something, but in actuality it sends a message to your subconscious mind about who you are. "</blockquote>

That is the problem with post modernism's dialectic materialism (which gave birth to feminism.) It denies that human life could possibly have any elements that aren't material - cannot be quantified into some physical need. Clearly you see that humans have a need to aspire to a higher calling, meaning or moral standard. It separates us from our animal nature.

These women are actually celebrating denying that inner desire for spirituality that makes us humans and staying in the low animalistic world.

The feminism they define - "choice"without any boundaries on womens' behavior - is just old fashioned hedonism but only for one half of the human race. I guess that is their original contribution to the philosophy :roll:

They lower their standards and shoot for the liberation to emulate mens' basest behaviors because they are incapable of emulating men who strive for the challenging high ground of honor, integrity, decency, God,society building, protection or any self denying moral creed. Then in a sick twist on the Fox's sour grapes, after losing out on the juicy grapes, the fox tries to pass off going hungry as the real prize.

<blockquote>
it always seems to be the higher-t women (some lesbians, some not) who lead the others astray, get angry that they’re women, get angry that they like girly stuff and attack media outlets for portraying classical gender roles. They do this because they can’t relate. They project their hormonal situation on others in their gender, who in turn submit to it because of THEIR lower-t hormonal situation</blockquote>

I like this theory. It explains their hatred of Sarah Palin (the low T girls are jealous that she's pretty, feminine, and married to masculine hotty - they've bought the empty bag of goods and can't land a guy like that with their angry baggage. The high T are jealous that she is achieving goals their feminist foremothers hoped they'd accomplish but are apparently incapable of.)

Great post, but a couple of things

First, drinking is far more dangerous for women. They metabolize it far worse, and can become alcoholics far quicker.

Second, you have to ask yourself WHY are women willingly losing control over their faculties, often in dangerous situations?

My Answer, is that women are binge-drinking, in College, during HS, after College, because they are afraid of or don't like the men they want to have sex with.

After all, if it was pleasurable, a woman would want to have every bit of memory with her, now wouldn't she?

This drinking, with the obvious dangers and decreased sexual enjoyment, to me is a big red flag that Dutch Courage is needed for a LOT of women to have even the means to go through with sex with guys they don't want really (just the release of sex itself).

"I suggest that the next writer who chooses to do a piece about the popular meme of how today’s urban young adult men are stunted man-children who refuse to commit actually take the time to learn about the boozy train wrecks they’re refusing to commit to. The marriage stats will make a lot more sense then."

Very, very, interesting point. I wonder if I'm going to here thise meme on NPR though? I bet the 50 something women there hate the jezebel women.

As a non-drinker, I can safely say, I hate when girls get excessively drunk. It's just not classy, straight up. And using 'I was drunk' as an excuse for anything is beyond lame.

Those Jezebels girls videos....just plain scary.

I took a look at the linked City Journal article. I agree with the statement at the end that adults are made and not born; nowadays there seem to be woefully few incentives for (young) adults of EITHER gender to reach beyond a self-centered, self-indulgent existence.

However, I disagree with the statement that marriage and fatherhood are the ONLY route to maturity for males. Perhaps the thinking is that the minority of men who are capable of pulling off lifelong bachelorhood with style and dignity are a "bad influence" on the majority who are not.

There is a sense of honor, integrity, and outward obligation that separates men from boys, but I have known quite a few young men who are not too keen on getting married and possess this in spades. Indeed, in some cases marriage may be an impediment to doing the right thing; I can imagine, for instance, a landlord's wife pressuring him into raising the rent on trouble-free tenants who have paid on time for years, even if her existence is comfortable and costs have not significantly risen, simply because "the greater good" starts and ends with her.

T: While you may have seen it by now, there is a "Best of Craigslist" post titled "My Job And Your Job" that seems tailor-made for this blog. It is an m4w personals post which can be paraphrased as "okay, okay, I'll do all the manly stuff you hardly even realize that you expect--as long as you do all the girly stuff I expect."
