Is Killing Flies Exceedingly Difficult for Liberal Men?
I’ve been killing flies with my bare hands my whole life. I have always kept quiet and never bragged about this fact, not because of any humility but because I was totally unaware of what an awesome feat this was. But apparently it is. Little did I know that I have been all this time a veritable Superman, with the reflexes of a cheetah and the bravado of an alpha ape. And I have Obama to thank for this discovery.
See, Obama killed a fly during an interview recently. I saw the headline reported in an oddly prominent fashion all through last week, which I found off given how there seemed to be more important Obama-related things to focus on like his wishy-washy responses to North Korea threatening to launch a nuclear missile in the direction of his hometown of Hawaii and the fallout from the Iranian elections. But no, despite all that, the media reassures us Obama is a badass tough guy because…he can kill a fly.
Seriously. It’s no news that the media will jump on any attempt to furiously fellate Obama, but this is ridiculous. Observe these grown men gushing.
It was a Dirty Harry ‘Make my day’ moment.
Then the next guy even praises him for having such great weather and rainbows at his speeches, as if Obama was somehow responsible for the weather. Oh wait, liberals think he’s God so maybe they actually do think he controls the weather for his speeches.

Mind you the reporter is saying this during the very same week he won’t respond to the Iranian situation and is responding weakly to North Korea. But no, fly killing is the measure of carrying a big stick. Truly the reincarnation of Teddy Roosevelt.

You just have to appreciate the concentration and the precision. There’s just a few things going on in the world, but it’s as if everything was just stopped and at a standstill for the President to lower the boom….apparently he wanted to shore up his credentials as being a tough guy!

Swatting a fly with your bare hand is no easy feat either, as Caltech scientists Michael Dickinson and Gwyneth Card recently determined.
The researchers used high resolution, high speed digital imaging of fruit flies faced with a looming swatter. In the instant before a fly can usually zip to safety, its tiny brain calculates the location of the impending threat, comes up with an escape plan, and places its legs in an optimal position to hop out of the way in the opposite direction. All of this action takes place within about 100 milliseconds after the fly first spots the swatter.
“This illustrates how rapidly the fly’s brain can process sensory information into an appropriate motor response,” Dickinson explained.
Fleet-footed flies even tweak the escape technique, depending on the direction of the threat. Keep in mind that these insects possess a nearly 360-degree field of view, so they can see behind themselves. If a swatter comes in at a 50 degree angle, a fly can move its middle legs forward and lean back, raising and extending its legs to push off backward.
If the swatter comes from the back, no problem. The fly simply moves its middle legs a tiny bit backwards and leans its whole body in the opposite direction just before it jumps.
“We also found that when the fly makes planning movements prior to take-off, it takes into account its body position at the time it first sees the threat,” Dickinson said. “When it first notices an approaching threat, a fly’s body might be in any sort of posture depending on what it was doing at the time, like grooming, feeding, walking, or courting. Our experiments showed that the fly somehow ‘knows’ whether it needs to make large or small postural changes to reach the correct preflight posture. This means that the fly must integrate visual information from its eyes, which tell it where the threat is approaching from, with mechanosensory information from its legs, which tells it how to move to reach the proper preflight pose.”
So what is the optimal way to swat a fly?
“It is best not to swat at the fly’s starting position, but rather to aim a bit forward of that to anticipate where the fly is going to jump when it first sees your swatter,” he advised.
Staying a step ahead of one’s opponents isn’t a bad skill for a leader. President Obama is also clearly a hands on, take charge person.

And I’m sure longtime readers remember how I discussed the obsession he and the media have with comparing him to Abraham Lincoln? Well, guess who else also had a run in a with a fly according to Associated Press?
President Obama launched his campaign from Abraham Lincoln’s hometown, used his Bible to be sworn in and quotes Lincoln at the drop of a stovepipe hat.
Now it seems the two share something else: an encounter with a fly.
Daniel Weinberg, the owner of the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago, has a photograph of Lincoln with a house fly on him.
Weinberg doesn’t know if the fly survived the encounter or if it suffered the same fate as the one that had the audacity to land on Obama during a television interview Tuesday and found itself on the business end of a presidential hand.
Remember, there is no liberal or pro-Obama bias in the media. None.

How did I miss the point? My point is that the respected mainstream media is so enamored of Obama that they will gush excessively about his most mundane accomplishments like they are insanely impressive, to the point where it’s embarrassing.
PETA is a radical advocacy group, not a respected media outfit claiming to be an objective watchdog. No one rational expects anything but crackpot extremist advocacy from them. And at this point Fox is practically openly partisan to the right anyway, or at least is commonly perceived that way. Even they admit that they deliberately skew to the right of most of the established mainstream media in an effort to balance out the excessive liberal bias.
Regardless, Fox News as the lone critic of Obama in no way invalidates that over 90% of the media was engaging in swooning hyperbole of the kind I linked to above. One or two exceptions in no way disproves the rule.
I didn’t “miss” that issue because it’s simply not true. It was not about the women in the media getting wet, because if you look at the clips and links showcased in the above post, Obama’s display of violence had the male journalists leaking love juices just as gushingly as the women were, if not moreso. I’d argue that the men just as moist and are swooning just as hard as the women are.
Why you choose to just isolate the female journalists and make it only about them is beyond me.
Yes and no. I agree the stupidity of the media is nothing new, but I think this level of sheer stupidity and outright adulation is unprecedented.
Bush is flawed but I don’t think he’s as dumb as popular opinion portrays him, nor do I think Obama is as bright as popular opinion portrays him. But after 8 years of seeing how the media treated Bush while he was in office, if you can truly say you have no idea how the media would have treated Bush for killing that fly, you must not have been paying attention. Because there’s no doubt of the double standard at play.

in this video, i was expecting a treatment of obama’s body language in that video, then a segue to media treatment of him as a result. Because if obama had swatted that fly only after flailing hard and hitting only air, the media would have savagely mocked him the way they did when his bowling sucks(during the philadelphia primary.) Instead, he swatted the fly while (a) while maintaining a cool composure with his leg crossed; he swatted it in one slap(not two or three); his facial expression was focused, enagaged, but coolly detached when he slapped the fly; his head was slightly corked to one side; he immediately followed his actions with “where were we?” right after swatting the fly.
Simple stupid stuff. But the effects are far reaching. This is the core of alpha body language. The way you do something can end up being bigger than the thing itself. Or overshadowing all other things. An untrained person may ask what is the big deal how he did it? Or what is the big deal how you stand in front of girls, your posture, that standing is standing. No! No!.
I remember one time that i smoothly, with uncharacteristic elan, uncork a bottle of wine. The girl i was with just swooned. Simple stupid gestures. Swatting a fly, opening a bottle of wine, body posture while standing. They all adds up. Alpha body language, subtle, small, or big.

NYC Chic posted two posts. I can respect the first one, she raised a lot of good questions with supporting documentation. The second post, i didnt like very much. The first post was straight, technical and to the point. The second was more lyrical and passionate. It is like reading the stranger. The first part was a dry recitation of events, the second, interpretation and musings.
My guess is that people will pick on the second post(because it is easy to attack) rather than engage the well documented robust first post.

Capitalizing on that frustration was another swift move strategically by Obama. He’s a community activist so you know he cares about you and making your life better and he’s brand new to this, just like you’d be if you became president.

Movie parodies like Oliver Stone’s W. Bloggers constantly bashing him. Comedians and other media figures savagely ripping him apart. People like Colbert using the Press Corps dinner to launch a venomous diatribe. Liberals cheering any time something embarrassing happened to Bush from misspeaking to having a shoe thrown at him.
But that, that’s “patriotic dissent,” “speaking truth to power” or “social justice” when a liberal does it.
But now that YOUR guy’s in power, suddenly we see liberals everywhere (not just you) claiming dissent is “digging a hole,” saying we need unity, claiming it’s just “sour grapes.” No one can take liberals seriously when they make these claims because their actions were the exact opposite when Bush was in power.

Sure they can. Obama simply isn’t as smart on the issues as any of them. In a land with a fair, objective media coverage any of them can stand toe to toe with him and pretty much destroy him easily. He simply appeals to emotions, class warfare, doublespeak and empty platitudes. I want to invite as much comparison to the right as possible on the issues, as for Obama that is the worst thing that can happen to him. The media, his attack dogs, know this, which is why they do their best to help him out by either ignore opposing viewpoints or mischaracterize them when reporting on them.
I agree on half that statement. He is brand new to this.

It’s time to peel back some of the layers of reality. The Conservative argument is not made through logic or intelligence or being “smart on issues”. The Right wing appeals to fear, plain and simple. The more “inordinately afraid of uncertainty, change, and death” a person is the greater the chance they’ll self identify as Conservative/Republican. People who are scared shitless will do anything for the promise of being kept safe; they’ll sacrifice privacy, autonomy, money, true financial self governance, whatever.

That’s the historical context of the whole Liberal/Conservative argument. The Liberals view the social upheaval of the 60s as progress, while it triggers anxiety and fear in Conservatives of uncertainty and loss of stature. If you are scared of losing power as a man because women won’t play the traditional roles, increased physical competition for resources and people rejecting the traditional barriers to free will like religion and fear of what the neighbors will say, you will be easy prey for the Conservative hook, line and sinker.
This is doubly true for Black people and minorities. Being a Black Conservative is saying: “I did not suffer because of racial politics, I have always somehow been able to rise above them. White people have always seen my inherent goodness and intelligence and morality and have always accepted me and allowed me to compete fairly for opportunity.” or “I am so morally/intellectually/socially superior to other Blacks/Asians/Hispanics that I operate in the white world without barriers and if all others in my race would do the same, they could as well.”
Conservatism is powered by cowardice in white men, mean spirited subterfuge in white women and the burning yearning for stature in Blacks, Asians and Hispanics.
Try this at home, kids. Gather ’round your boot-clacking friends and take any knee-jerk Right Wing position and say something thoughtful about it: “Defense spending should be cut because we don’t even have places store our arsenal, we’ve got so many weapons, according to this article in the Economist.” Then sit back and observe. You will take it back or they will strip you of the social acceptance of the Conservative label.
As opposed to being a Liberal. Gather ’round your pot-head free spirits and tell them: “I know its a woman’s right to choose but what about the women who can really chose to have their babies because of poverty. I’m going to go volunteer at the abortion alternatives place.” And…nothing. But back to your point though. Obama not only speaks wells, he make great use of face time and he makes it a point to counter the opposition’s arguments as a foundation in making his points. Did you see his town hall on Obamacare in Colorado yesterday?
