Fashion Hell

No.

Just…no.

Here’s an affirmative action program I can get behind: can we please get some scholarship programs in fashion schools and hiring quotas at design houses for straight men? Because this is getting ridiculous now. People who show up like this to work should be cockpunched and fired on the spot.

Here’s a sample of what you’ll see after the link:

You know this whole look can be traced back to one gay designer, Thom Browne. He’s been infantilizing men’s fashion for years now. Don’t worry, there are still old school tailors that cater to straight men, albeit in Europe.

At least they’re not wearing make-up, at least I don’t think they are. Not yet.

DA – Anything is an improvement over the look in the articles.

DF – Funny thing with Europe is that it’s both a great place for an old school, straight man’s suit and also a place that introduces most of these fruity fashions at the same time! Moreso Paris, Milan and Madrid than the UK, but still…

zpr – I’m sure that will be in the next Sunday Times.

    lurkel – no doubt.

Gay crap. This is why men don’t pay attention to fashion whatsoever.

That being said, how to dress is now a really hard thing to figure out at times.

Rich people wear shorts and t-shirts, I’ve seen multi-millionaires in that get up just to show they can (and can’t be bothered to wear other stuff).

Clubbing is easy — tailored jeans and a sport coat or suit without a tie and open collar. Classic and it never goes out of style.

But business attire can be very tricky. Back east, it’s still suit if not tie, but on the West Coast it’s often sport coat over jeans and t-shirt, depending on the business. Almost no one wears suits except Entertainment execs who wear custom tailored outfits at 10,000 and up.

I think for most offices, the jeans, decent dress shirt, and sport coat look works. The coat gives you a place to stash “stuff” including cell phone, keys, badges, wallet and so on. You can take it off if it gets hot, put it on if you’re going out for lunch and it’s chilly or the AC kicks in overdrive. Spill something on jeans or a dress shirt and it’s just in the washer, not dry cleaners. Tucked in, and with the sport coat on, you look formal enough in impromptu meetings. While a couple of sport coats are cheaper than entire suits.

I went to fashion college and out of the 50 people in my class, about 10 were guys. 8 of those were gay, 1 was straight and the other was just questionable. So, I don’t think there’s much hope.

Angus Young knew how to rock the look.

These look horrible. If a guy wants to show off his legs, he should wear a kilt. On most men, that looks much better than shorts.
