A Question to the Readers
If I was to take my writing to the next level and self-publish, what would you most be interested in seeing me write based on what you’ve read of my blog so far? Nonfiction that expands a specific topic I’ve discussed on this blog? Or nonfiction that touches a variety of topics like a collection of essays? A piece of fiction that illustrates the type human behavior principles I tend to discuss? Something else altogether?
Feedback is appreciated. That includes all you lurkers who never comment.
Thanks.

All of the above would be great, but if I had to pick, I’ve always like the essays.

I’d say your comparative advantage lies in your blackness, FWIW.
I’m probably biased by the blog format, but a series of essays on human behavior sounds pretty good.
Definitely the collection of essays
One of the great features of your blog is its variety: I like how you can go from immortailty and being a renaissance man to stupid TV commercials and upper class black elitism. If you?re taking your writing to the next level, then take the variety to the next level as well: experiment with different writing styles like fiction vs. non, essay vs. short article, et cetera, and keep mixing it up until you find one particular style you really like.
As along time lurker, I vote for the essays. You have a variety of insights, and what I like about your blog is that you bring a perspective that is fresh, and that you genuinely seem to have thought through whatever the issue is. Even when I disagree with you, I honor the effort and insight you’ve put into what you put out. The essay form gives you room to expand, but a lot of flexibility as well (look at Montaigne, for example).
Making fiction out of what you want to say doesn’t strike me as the best strategy at all — but I am personally allergic to that kind of book, which usually leads to mediocre science fiction. Or worse.
The renaissance man series seems to best lend itself to expansion in book form. It also seems like the most commercially viable topic, and the angle from which you could best pivot into a number of other related topics and fields. Plus it’s genuinely helpful. Seems like a win for everybody.
The Rawness,
I am relatively new to this blog. I wouldn’t mind the next step, as you call it. As long as your writing is good.
Cheers.

Mr. Rawness,
The renaissance man subject is great, and here’s why: It gets to the point and makes positive suggestions, ideas of how to improve our game. Anything you publish should focus the same way: here’s what’s good, how you can do it, etc. And I will buy anything you publish–good luck!
As a lurker who only recently discovered your (excellent!) blog, my opinion shouldn’t count for much, but I vote for the series of nonfiction essays option. In any case, keep up the good work!
I’m not in agreement with you on politics so I wouldn’t be interested in that book.
But seriously, why I stay subscribed is that you give interesting, practical advice to men caught at the crossroads of “the old days” and “the new days.” The evolution of gender rules has left a lot of people rudderless. I think you’re at your best when giving positive advice (how brilliant was the idea to learn your city? Wonderful) and at your worst when you are slagging groups/individuals or laying blame.
I liked the series on the pimps and your thoughts on how and where their ideas were applicable in regular life.
Tuff question something along the lines of power dominance in Alpha males on a male to male relationship would be good.

My first thought when I read this post was that you should write a collection of essays. I don?t have to tell you this, but there are a ton of different topics about which to write when your main interest is “what makes people tick.”
However, a work of fiction isn?t a bad idea either. My uneducated guess is that writing good fiction will be more difficult for you than a collection of essays. Although you may write fiction in your spare time, I don?t know.
I do know the essay format would be pretty good because most of the posts here are very insightful ? even the looooooooooooong ones.
Either way, best wishes.
Work the power angle, but try to avoid turning it into a pickup artist handbook. I know there’s lots of application in male-female relationships, but you’ll not be taken seriously if you let that part of it take over.

Hey, T!
Sorry I haven’t been keeping up on the site. You’re still the dopest blogger out right now.
You DEFINITELY have to go collection of essays. You have a depth of knowledge and/or opinon on a great number of diverse topics. The essay collection will highlight that strength.
Also it is essentially what you’ve been doing and it will come relatively easy for you. Writing a book is difficult enough. You can experiment with other writing styles once you have a book or two under your belt.

I have to co-sign with cz on this one. The pimp-game as used in real life was mind altering. I actually had a vision of good game after I read that. That vision I actually transformed into a strategy that I’m that is in work-in-progress as we speak. You seem to break the game down very well, brotha. I know a lot of guys are doing that now, but you’re not overly technical and robotic like a lot of the PUA distributions out there, nor are you only geared towards guys already in the game like a lot of the pimp books out there. Add a little of your human nature ideologies in there, and you have something interesting.
A lot of your topics can be blended into a book though, portraits of charisma, renaissance man, etc…
a collection of essays is my vote.
Collection of essays, it would be my vademecum.
Something like “the 48 Laws of Survival in postfeminist technological modernity: how not to fade to grey”.
Thanks to everyone who responded. It’s all very helpful. More, more!
Hello Mr. Raw,
To add to the discussion, I have always enjoyed your multi-part series, these are what keep me coming back to your blog. I hope I did not increase your narcissism.
Sorry bro, but once a human being starts a blog his narcissism has already reached the point of no return.
Ive only read a few articles which i enjoy, I have to read more. And i would prefer collection of essays touching on a range of subjects, because i feel u got alot of useful knowledge in different areas. Great Blog, one of my fav. You keep it real.
My dearest T, I would like to read a collection of essays.
A collection of essays, or better yet somehow tie in your ability to understand the human condition just as a regular chapter type book. Your personal experience would be a great help to the many looking to understand what life is all about.

Why don’t you find a publisher?

T.,
This may not be precisely where your passions lie, but I believe that a book using the “How to be a Renaissance Man” theme as its core concept is probably the most societally useful.
This would also permit you to bring in some of your other more interesting essays – I’m thinking specifically of your 3-part series on achieving compliance or your 2-part one on “the Rearden.” All renaissance men ought to be well versed in compliance techniques.
Hey you should definitely look into publishing a book. However you should also continue to update your blog or you risk falling off. Its been over a month since you wrote anything.
